Beloved couple Scott and Charlene return to Neighbours for series finale
Coinciding with the series finale of "Neighbours", stars Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan return to the 37-year old soap opera reprising their characters Scott and Charlene.
There was already speculation after the two singer/actors posted what appeared to be half of a "Neighbours" script on Instagram. Kylie's postshowed the name Scott, and Jason's postshowed the name Charlene, and now has been confirmed on the TV show's Twitter.
Neighbours EP Jason Herbison said that "Scott and Charlene are the ultimate Neighbours couple and it would not feel right to end the show without them We are thrilled that Jason and Kylie have come home to play a very special part in our series finale. It has been an emotional experience for them, for us and I'm sure it will be for our viewers."
The couple were originally on the show from 1986 to 1989 (Minogue departing in 1988), and were beloved by fans and fans couldn't get enough of their wholesome love, as quoted by TV Week's Melissa Field.
The show announced that their 38th season would be their last due to Channel 5 in the UK announcing that they would no longer air the soap, and Fremantle Media and Channel 10 failing to secure a new UK partner.
The series finale will air on 10 Peach in Australia, and Channel 5 in the UK on Monday, August 1.
